Hi Joanna,

I read your feature in the Chronicle today, and I'm really impressed by your background and accomplishments. I hope that you consider a run for mayor as I think you would be a wonderful (productive) alternative to Gavin.

P.S. I think that you should create a "Fan" profile on Facebook to draw attention to you as a public figure.

Dear Joanna,

I am encouraged by your commitment, your approach to education, and your potential candicacy for mayor.
As a woman in the Bay Area who has also seen the need to change the educational landscape by changing my own life perspective, I would love to connect with you and offer my support. I also would encourage you to check out Teach with Africa (www.teachwithafrica.org), a nonprofit which I founded 2 1/2 years ago as a reciprocal education initiative between South Africa and the US. We fund multidisciplinary teams to redress the severe challenges to educational equality in the townships of Cape Town and Johannesburg; our Fellows then return to assist and inspire our local schools (including KIPP and soon, High Tech High).
Warmly, Marjorie Schlenoff, San Francisco (415-673-1952), Founder, Teach with Africa (www.teachwithafrica.org)
